Like many Australians, the team at Transdev have been shocked at the scale and ferocity of the bushfires ravaging communities across Australia this summer and have rallied in support of those affected.
Transdev Australasia CEO, Luke Agati recently announced a $30 000 donation from Transdev to the Australian Red Cross, in addition to committing to paid leave for all Transdev employees taking leave to fight the fires.
We are proud that we have a number of volunteer firefighters from Transdev Melbourne who are joining this effort and that we are able to support these individuals by ensuring they can take leave and still receive their full wage.
The Transdev Melbourne team are also currently running a staff raffle to raise additional funds, with more than $4 100 raised so far. One hundred percent of the raffle proceeds will be donated to the Victorian Premier's Bushfire Relief Appeal. The funds will help to meet the most urgent needs of local families – covering the cost of everything from groceries to replacing school uniforms, and will address the most immediate priorities of communities, including the rescue and rehabilitation of local wildlife.
From this month, posters on our buses will also outline how our customers can support the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
We have also made an offer of assistance to the Department of Transport to support the recovery effort and are continuing to look at ways we can support our community during this difficult time.
