Victoria’s newest buses clicked over one million kilometres of more reliable, safer and comfortable travel on the public transport network in December.
The new buses are improving reliability and comfort for passengers, with the vehicles featuring mobile phone charging, robust air-conditioning, improved CCTV capability and an expanded accessible seating area.
The first 86 of the 100 new buses ordered by the Andrews Labor Government have been progressively rolled out on to Victoria’s public transport network since July last year.
The new buses have been built in line with the Government’s Local Jobs First Policy, ensuring they are made with 60 per cent local content, creating jobs in Ballarat and sustaining employment in Dandenong.
The order is part of a $16 million investment by the Andrews Labor Government to replace and modernise the ageing state-owned bus fleet.
The remaining 14 buses will be delivered to Transdev mid-next year.
